School Food Drives
As we interview families and learn about each family the NUMBER ONE need is always FOOD.
Generally, over 25 of our Catholic Schools hold food collections for our program. We, in turn, put together food boxes for our families. BUT, because of the ongoing precautions surrounding the pandemic, we have momentarily reformatted the Adopt a Family program.
Canceled volunteer days meant we could not accept any food donations collected by our generous Catholic Schools to create the two-week supply of food that we gifted to our families each year. But our hearts are still ready to give!
In the spirit of giving, empathy, and compassion, we are asking our Catholic Schools for help in providing for these families by means of grocery gift cards in any increments. Some stores near our families are Ralph’s, Food 4 Less, Walmart, and Target to name a few.
We ask that you propose the Adopt-A-Family Program to your classes, clubs, or student council. Empower them to take action as they recognize the suffering of children living in poverty. We also encourage you to recruit students and their parents and siblings to work together on this most important endeavor. Our Catholic Schools have always been wonderful and important partners in this outreach, and it is our hope that you and your students will join us as we bring the graces of the Infant Jesus and the magic of Christmas, as seen through a child’s eyes, to families and children whose lives are so very challenging.
To discuss a school drive please give us a call at (213) 637-7501. We will need all grocery gift cards back to our office no later than December 6th.
ADOPT-A-FAMILY will like to give a BIG THANK YOU to the following schools that donated to our program over the years:
